We arrived in Virginia late Friday night and spent most of Saturday and Sunday getting moved into our apartment and settled. We found where the grocery store was and where are church was at. On Monday it was Labor Day so Danny didn't have to start work until the Tuesday after we arrived so on Monday we decided to head down to DC and start seeing some of the sights!
Here is the capitol building, it's in the very center of DC.
We went to the Library of Congress, it was really cool, but most of the places you go you can't take pictures of, so you will have to come and experience it yourself one day!
Normally you can't take pictures of the reading room, but since we came on a holiday there was no research going on inside so they let us take pictures in there!
This is inside the capitol building, we took a tour. Not going to lie, Danny gives a much better tour of the capitol than this lady did, but it was still really fun!
Every state gets two statues in the capitol building. One of Utah's is Brigham Young!
Here is Reily and Jaci Inman standing with Danny. Reily is also an intern in Hatch's office.
This is the very center of the capitol building, which also means that it is the very center of Washington DC. People say that it is good luck to rub your toes on it... so we all had to do it!
Here is Danny and the Washington Monument.
Here we are in front of the capitol building, right before it started pouring on us! I have never seen rain like that in my life, we were drenched in about 30 seconds. We ran for cover, but by the time we got out of the rain it didn't matter much because we were already so wet!
We went out to Ihop later that night for Reily's birthday -- after we got home and changed into dry clothes.
